Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital have each been named a Center of Excellence (COE) by GO2 for Lung Cancer (GO2) for their ongoing commitment to providing the Cape Cod community with patient-centered, evidence-based lung cancer screening.

In addition to receiving this newly awarded designation as a Center of Excellence in Lung Cancer Screening, Cape Cod Hospital is also recognized by GO2 as a Center of Excellence in Incidental Pulmonary Nodules, for providing a structured program that captures incidentally found lung nodules from imaging, with a standardized process for patient follow-up and reporting across the health system.

More Than a Marketing CEO 🙌😊

Most people know me as the owner of Cape & Plymouth Business Marketing. But there’s a lot they probably don’t know about me.

I’m Cara. I’m 39 and grew up right here in North Plymouth, so I’m about as local as it gets. I went through the Plymouth school system and later spent five years at Cape Cod Community College, where I earned my associate’s degree before transferring into the Suffolk University program offered on Cape Cod at the time, graduating with a degree in Communications and Journalism with a minor in Marketing and PR.

My career has taken some unexpected turns over the years, but one of the biggest came when I acquired Cape & Plymouth Business Marketing in 2024. 2025 was my first full year as owner, leading the digital marketing agency along with our magazine, newsletter, and events that connect thousands of professionals across the South Shore, South Coast, and Cape Cod.

But what many people don’t realize is that I’m actually very introverted. My job requires me to be extroverted — speaking at events, networking, hosting programs — and while I’ve done it long enough that it feels natural, it still pushes me out of my comfort zone every time. Honestly, I’d usually rather be behind my laptop doing the work.

I also spend a lot of time helping small business owners beyond what my job calls for. As a small business owner myself, I know how overwhelming marketing can feel and how important it is to have support and guidance along the way.

I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce, where I also co-chair Canal Day, I’m the Social Media Coordinator for Networking Group USA’s Plymouth Chapter, and I recently joined Cape Women in Business on the marketing committee.

Looking back, it’s kind of surreal. In 2015, I was named a C&P Business 40 Under 40 honoree, and I never imagined that years later I would become the first woman owner of the company.

At the end of the day, I’m still just a local woman from Plymouth who loves this community and believes deeply in small businesses.

OCES Employees Honored with Milestone Awards 🏆

Old Colony Elder Services OCES honored 24 staff members, including their Chief Executive Officer Nicole Long, with milestone awards during their annual staff meeting in January.

OCES is the largest provider of in-home and community-based services for older adults and people living with disabilities in Southeastern Massachusetts. With locations in Brockton and Plymouth, the organization employs 270 full- and part-time staff members.

Awards for 20 years of service were presented to Nicole Long of Plymouth, Rochelle Sugarman of Canton, and Jean Sibley of Hanson.

Awards for 10 years of service went to Zonya Williams of Rhode Island; Ines Veira of Taunton; Kori Pickett of Plymouth; Ken Gomes of Fall River; Elga Miranda, Sosha Michel, Stacy Vaughn, Maryanne Whalen and Shirley Smith of Brockton; Carolyn Brown of Easton; Ariola Sina of Hanover; Christine Thompkins of Halifax; Colleen Joyce of Stoughton; and Carol Cedrone of Randolph.
